Thank you so much! I completely understand! I am grateful for your support in whatever way you can. A like, share and comment can do a lot to help out!
As a paying subscriber to 2 articles I've often wondered how authors encourage readers to pay. Outside of Substack's shortcomings (there are several) I'd say growing a following on other socials and direct them here, is one way.
Putting up a paywall might work, but then you'd lose potential subscribers who start out as lurkers.
One writer had a sale not too long ago to encourage paid subscribers and it worked on me. I signed up.
Also your podcast was pretty cool, that's another way to feed your Substack page. Wonder if you could reach out to well-known people in politics or other fields and have them on the podcast? This to get the numbers up? Post those here, on YT and Rumble.
Thanks for asking us, Dallas. Stick with it, your work is engaging, insightful, and I always look forward to reading your articles.
Lastly, posting "The Bishop Directive" chapters is another way to attract subscribers!
I’m asking myself the same questions as I'm trying to monetize my stack. You can check out the inaugural issue to see what immcontemplating as subscriber only content.
Substack.com is on its way down. Been going down a while..
Yes, author content is critical, CRITICAL! So many are just putting out what they think people want to hear in hopes of a subscriber base pay check.
I'm not renewing or signing up for new subscriptions until the content makers handcuff those running substack.com for 2 important items;
1. a paid subscriber's bill of rights. Meaning the treatment of paid subscribers is not totally at the whim of the author of which some are insecure, immature, thin skinned, and only concerned about building their brand.
2. Substack.com MUST incorporated a auto renew / non auto renew feature. I, THE ONE PAYING FOR THE CONTENT, will review and decide IF I CHOOSE TO RENEW based upon whatever my PAID support evaluates at the time of renewal. Sending a one time gift is fine to help and then see what the fruits produced are before a commitment.
Until these happen, at a minimum, my time on substack.com will continue to wane until I won't even login, period.
There are many authors I would like to keep supporting and many others I would gladly start supporting. However, substack is lacking greatly and I've seen the writing on the wall. A better platform must be up or up and coming.
Thank you for the feedback, Darius. I too am not thrilled with some of the business practices. Especially, renewing subscriptions on people without their consent. I hope plenty of people read this and I will try my best to share this as well.
As much as I thoroughly enjoy your hard work, I’m not able to afford a subscription, even at the lowest price tier. So, to answer your question: as soon as I match 6 digits in a lottery, I’ll be certain to assist you. Unfortunately, being on a fixed income with social security does not allow for added frivolous expenses.
I completely understand. If it isn't financially feasible I would never want anyone to pay. That is why I try to keep the vast majority of my content free. Thank you for the feedback and thank you for reading my content!
I’m just an old fart, but I am doing my best to get the truth out. I can only afford to pay for a few subscriptions. I update this daily, and you will notice there are no ads. Keeping the blog going costs quite a bit. - https://fatherlyadviceandrants.com/news-the-mainstream-media-ignores/
Love your work.
I wish I could financially support it.
Sorry. Hopefully things change soon.
